Made-in-Vermont Gifts for Mothers’ Day

I love the art of giving… More specifically, I love finding the perfect gift at the perfect time for someone special in your life. I spend many hours around the holidays brainstorming and getting creative with gifts. I strive to find something that is 1) unique, 2) useful or memorable, 3) shows the person I put care into choosing the gift specifically for them. You’ll never see me give a gift certificate. And it even pains me to purchase a gift off of a wedding registry… although I usually “supplement” a registry gift with something Vermont-made. Your mother is—hopefully—one of the most important people in your life. So why not treat her to something special that’s made right here in Vermont for Mothers’ Day? Here are my picks for the best made-in-Vermont Mothers’ Day Gifts in a variety of price ranges and styles.

Made-in-Vermont Mothers’ Day Gift Ideas

Tata Harper Skincare

Tata Harper products, made in Bridport, Vermont, are seriously spendy. But, when you can give a gift to your mom that makes her feel better about herself and makes her look more radiant, it’s worth every penny. Plus, Tata Harper products are all-natural, organic, nontoxic, and literally smell like a field full of flowers. There are many options to choose from that would make a good gift for any woman in your life. My choices include the Illuminating Moisturizer ($85), Restorative Eye Creme ($95), or the Soothing Body Scrub ($75). In addition to gift sets, Tata Harper has a New Mama Set ($90) to help a new mom feel rejuvenated. Right now, Tata Harper is offering 15% off for  (and discounts happen rarely!). Use code CELEBRATEMOM.

Personalized Jewelry from Alloy Jewelry

Based in Montpelier, Leah, the craftswoman behind Alloy Jewelry, is a mom to three young boys and a fluffy pup and makes highly original, customized jewelry. She designs rings, earrings, cuff bracelets, and necklaces with inspirational quotes and letters for your loved ones. I wear the Annette Necklace ($62) daily, which is a classic pick for an initialed piece of jewelry. The Amy ($62) with the quote, “Put it all away, sit quietly, breathe” is an apropos quote for any Mom. Check out the full collection of locally made, Vermont jewelry options here, with handmade earrings as low as $22.

A Baking Class at King Arthur Flour

For the Mom who loves to bake, book a baking class at King Arthur Flour in Norwich, Vermont. The iconic Vermont brand and one of the best places to work in Vermont offers baking classes for any skill level. While at King Arthur, any Mom in your life will have the opportunity to browse the retail center with ample baking essentials. Check out the full list of baking courses offered in Vermont here, from Yeast Breads to Luscious Lemon Desserts to Sticky Fingers: Breakfast Breads. Plus, can you imagine how good it must smell in that bakeshop?

Body Work with Brilliant Massage

What Mom wouldn’t want some self-pampering and relaxation? There are plenty of spas with massages available throughout Vermont… But I’m sharing with you my preferred massage therapist in Vermont: Jolita of Brilliant Massage in downtown Burlington. Whether your mom is interested in a soft, Swedish massage or has problem areas she wants addressed, Jolita is seriously skilled with her hands (and now feet – she also offers an Ashiatsu oriental bar therapy barefoot massage for an even deeper deep tissue offering). She uses a variety of massage tools to customize her patient’s bodywork, including a combination of hot stones and bamboo rods. Tell her Travel Like a Local: Vermont sent you when booking a massage for Mom for extra time on the table gratis.

Artwork from Vermont Pressed Flowers

Although I’m sure Mom loves fresh flowers, why not buy a colorful, floral “arrangement” that will last for years instead? Ellie Roden, from Southern Vermont, makes beautiful pressed flowered gifts, from handmade cards and bookmarks to framed flower art. Is your mom crafty herself? Ellie also sells the Microfleur, the press that would allow your mom to make her own flower art at home. Browse all of Ellie’s flower artwork here.

Vermont-Made Pottery

Pottery is one of my go-to gifts for any occasion throughout the year. It’s a good thing there are ample, amazing potters in Vermont that all have their unique styles. Farmhouse Pottery in Woodstock makes heirloom pottery that is my go-to for wedding gifts, but they also have timeless pieces for Mom. Bennington Potters, with a storefront in Burlington, has a long history of bakeware in Vermont in now iconic finishes and glazes. Waitsfield Pottery is a tiny shop in downtown Waitsfield that’s worth a visit for gifts for Mom for durable, functional stoneware.
